Burlesque Xtina

Can the Genie in a Bottle pop star perform as well on the silver screen as she can on her music videos?

Aguilera's first step towards the big screen was starting as singing a part of the new remake of 1975's  "Lady Marmalade" from the 2001 movie Moulin Rouge, grouping with Mya, Pink, Lil' Kim and Missy Elliott. Her second debut was less visual as she was a member of the soundtrack for Shark Tale and played the voice of a character with minimal speaking roles. Now she's stepping up and ready for musicals, combing her love with a new opportunity.
Christina Aguilera's making her silver-screen debut in a musical called Burlesque, about a small-town girl who makes good, somehow, by working at a Cabaret-like L.A. performance venue. It was written with her in mind, for Christina's big voice and retro-sexy vibe.
Well, as Aguilera says in her 2008 hit song, Keeps Gettin Better, X-Tina fans should "Hold on! It keeps gettin' better!"
Aguilera will play an ambitious small-town girl with a big voice who finds love, family and success in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club that appears to be right out of Bob Fosse's Cabaret.
Christina Aguilera is the ideal pop star as she covered musical styles from pop to soul to jazz to R&B and is a married mother. Finally a celebrity that doesn't give up after starting a family of her own! But how long until the press takes Aguilera's step forward to the big screen (as an actress, not just a voice) and makes it into a step towards yet another competition with ex fellow Mickey Mouse Club member Britney Spears.

Christina is taking the big screen to the next level! Combining the sexy acts of movies such as Coyote Ugly and the sensual dances and songs of Moulin Rouge, Aguilera is turning this bar into a musical!

Oops! Don't Do It Again!

Pop fans around the world go to concerts such as Britney Spears just to sing, dance, let loose and have a good time. One fan took it too far this when he jumped on stage during her show in Connecticut.

In a video allegedly of the incident, you can see (watch closely) a young man walk calmly out of the crowd and walk onto the stage during “Womanizer.” He danced with her backup for a few moments, before being led off by a few dancers, who apparently went, "Hey, who's this freak?" and escorted him offstage to security.

Britney has been a sensation for the past twelve years, with hits like Hit Me Baby One More Time, Oops! I Did It Again, I'm A Slave 4 U, Lucky, Womanizer and the 2009 tour, Circus, Spears is a teen pop idol.

As a Spears fan, I have never followed my urges to join Britney on stage. Luckily for me, I am not the one facing a possible warrant for arrest. Orlando Flordia resident Kyle King, 20, was released on Sunday with a $250 cash bond. His presence at and in the concert in Connecticut forces him to appear in court, back in Connecticut, on June 18th. His failure to be present will result in a issued arrest warrant.

So I guess now fans will start to realize that he's "not that innocent" and that security guards take this sort of thing seriously. Enjoy the concert from your seat people, its a lot cheaper than doin' time and payin' for your crime!

Obama and the Swine Flu

You won't believe the story I found about President Obama seeking $1.5 billion for Swine flu response.

The U.S. has 64 confirmed cases of the swine flu, with 45 clustered in New York. Infections also have been reported in California, Texas, Kansas and Ohio. While as many as 152 deaths in Mexico have been linked to the virus, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported only one person has been hospitalized in the U.S.

With the flu going around and multiple forms of "advice" to stay healthy and beat swine are out there, how safe are we? As a college student at Sam Houston State University, I eat out of the school cafe, Belvin. For example, if a member of the staff in the kitchen were to get Swine, would we all be in danger? Since the virus is passed by people or by contact with infected pigs what can we do to stay in help prevent the disease? Keep yourself clean!
